Non-servo pneumatic robots operate on plant air and are controlled remotely with four way valves in the ON/OFF mode similar to control for any double acting cylinder. Each component has two inlets. Pressure to one inlet ("ON" command) provides motion in one direction and pressure to the other inlet ("OFF" command) reverses the motion. Operation of a single motion element with a solenoid actuated, four way valve is familiar to many and is described schematically in Figure 6.
